Adv. Cornwell Dauds is a practising advocate with cross-disciplinary expertise in law, tax, economics, finance and accountancy. He specialises in tax, competition law and business law. He is determined to deliver a top-quality service which requires the highest standards of technical excellence, commitment, flair as well as acumen. He appears regularly in the country’s Tax Courts and gives advice and written opinions on all aspects of tax law, domestic and cross-border. He holds the designation Professional Tax Specialist (SA) with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and is an associate member of a group of barristers in London specialising in all aspects of tax law. His ambition is to provide incisive, effective, practical and confident advice. He is a former acting judge of the High Court of South Africa and appears in the country’s main appellate Courts.

In his competition practice, Dauds appears before the Competition Tribunal and gives advice and written opinions on matters competition related. He has published extensively in his areas of expertise having written several widely acknowledged books and articles on tax, competition law which integrates economic principles, as well as finance. He perfected his skills in trial advocacy after undergoing intensive professional training in the art and skills of trial advocacy in the US. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School in the US and London School of Economics in the UK. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London and holds the designation MCIArb. He is also a member of The Adjudication Society in London.
